Ben Aaronovitch’s series staring Peter Grant, police officer and apprentice wizard continues in this fifth novel. Two girls in Herefordshire and Peter is sent to check it isn’t supernatural. When he arrives it seems like he isn’t needed but Peter stays to help out.
Then things take a turn for the spooky when a school friend of the missing girls mentions an invisible friend. At this point it gets complicated and decidedly supernatural. Here be unicorns, fairy queens, changelings and river goddesses.

My Review

I had things to do today. I have not done any of them. This book sucked me in at half nine this morning and let me go when I finished it six hours later. This series just gets better and better. I love the characters, the humour, the plot and the way Mr Aaronovitch weaves myth and police procedure to create his stories.

Fantastic in more ways than one.
